Chirps identifies birds by their calls, entirely on your phone.

Point it at a hedge and it listens. Identification runs on-device using a bundled model, so it works with no signal, in a wood, on a hill, on a plane — and your recordings never leave your phone, because there is nowhere for them to go.

What it does

• Listens and identifies in real time, offline, with no account.
• Chirps — the recordings you chose to keep, as a collection.
• Blips — species that have been around recently.
• Pips — your finds on a map, kept on your device.
• Feed — optional. Sign in and you can share what you found with friends.

Recording, identification, Chirps, Blips and Pips all work with no account at all, and always will. An account is only needed for the social part, because that part is inherently about other people.

Your recordings stay yours

Audio, spectrograms and exact coordinates never leave your device. Not as a setting — there is no code path that uploads them. If you sign in, what gets shared is which species you found, the date, and a two-letter country code. Nothing finer than that.

The privacy policy says all of this properly, and is written from what the code does rather than from a template.
